A better pool
than the one we closed
The Cust pool is getting a full fibreglass reline, new pipework and better filtration. It opens for the 2026/27 summer.
Not another patch. A new pool.
We spent three summers chasing the same leak with epoxy, resin and fibreglass patches. Each one bought a season. So the committee stopped patching and made the call to do it once, properly: a full fibreglass reline over the old concrete shell, new pipework and skimmers, and an upgrade to the filtration while the pool is empty.
A brand-new surface
Fibreglass over the whole shell. Smooth underfoot, easy to clean, and built to last decades.
No more leaks
The reline seals the lot at once. No more thousands of litres a day soaking away into the ground, and no more topping it up to keep swimming.
Warmer, steadier water
A sealed shell holds its heat. Paired with the solar heating we installed in 2022, the temperature stays far more even right through the season.
Cleaner every day
New skimmers, new pipework and better filtration mean clearer water and a lot less time spent nursing an old system along.

The last stretch
The reline, pipework and filtration come to $108,000. Between grants, donations, raffles and tea towel sales, this community has already put $92,388 of that in the bank.
The simplest way to help with the rest is to take a season key for 2026/27.
A Community Treasure Since 1955
Built by local volunteers with hand-mixed concrete and donated labour, the Cust pool opened in 1955 after a decade of fundraising. It's where generations of kids learned to swim, families gathered on hot Canterbury summers, and the community came together.
Seventy years on, the same community is doing the same thing again, funding a pool with raffles, quiz nights and neighbours chipping in.
